Just be sure to keep your faith strong in college.  Unless you are going to a Christian based university, your faith will be attacked by professors and students alike.  Whatever school you go to will have some sort of college outreach.  In our area, the Southern Baptists typically will have a BCM (Baptist College Ministry) where you can meet with fellow believers, have activities, and even do foreign mission trips in the summer.  Think of it as college level youth group but with better snacks!  Get plugged in somewhere with fellow worshipers of Christ.

Yeah, I graduated from UT in Knoxville and it definitely is "taxing" on your beliefs. Mainly for me it was lack of time for anything church related. I was busy with classes and class work, working at the campus radio station and another radio station on weekends. It was just hard to focus on my spirituality. The secular stuff didn't even really faze me but I was so occupied with everything else. Vol football, basketball, concerts almost on a weekly basis... Luckily my family lives in the area so I still went to our church 90 % of the time on weekends. Occasionally i would miss but most of the time I went. When I first started I went to the Baptist Student Union a few times with another girl from my church but neither of us got much out of their services so we both stopped going after a few visits. And it being a big school was a major distraction to anything else because the campus is so large it becomes your world. Everything is right there and most of the population is what you could consider "the beautiful people". It's easy to fall into the trap of business even if you aren't influenced by so many world beliefs.

My senior year I signed up for a New Testament class just because I thought it would be interesting... I didn't know it was an ATTACK on the New Testament so I dropped after the second class... Maybe not an attack but it was a comparison of the Gospels and how they "didn't match up". I had no interest in that so I dropped the class.

Yippie!  Congratulations to both.

My school (Marshall) was much smaller than UT, but I had a lot of the same challenges.  Fortunately, I had a ton of Christian friends who I could hang with and who got me involved with a couple of different campus ministries.  I didn't really have much trouble with professors challenging my faith, but that was because of who I had.  I also want to say if you are placed in a position to challenge a professor on evolution, don't do it.  It may feel like the right to do, but it really isn't worth the problems you will cause for yourself.  On the exam, just tell him/her what he wants to hear.  You aren't being ashamed of the Gospel, you are being as shrewd as a snake and harmless as a dove.

I work with a lady who is notorious for tearing men down for no reason.  I remind her about once a week of this.

I think I work with her sister, luckily I can avoid her and 99.9% of my coworkers know she is full of crap.

I've had surgery on both of my feet for plantar fasciitis.

My wife has it.  Her chiropractor is a runner and big into sports fitness, and he told her that there is virtually nothing she can do about it. He said surgery will make it go away for awhile, but it will always come back. The best thing, in his opinion, is to take advil for the pain and constantly stretch your calf and heal.

Instead of a podiatrist, I went to a bone specialist.  He actually disconnected the tendon and planed off my heel with each foot.  He said that I would probably never have symptoms again.  So far, I am 12 years since having my right foot done and 10 since having my left one.

That's awesome! I'll share that with my wife. She won't care (she thinks very highly of her chiropractor <sigh>), but I'll tell her anyway.

While I love my chiropractor, never let them treat you for something that is outside their field of expertise.  I would take medical advise from mine, but heel spurs is something they cannot control with a spinal realignment.

I just know that many of the people who had surgery from a podiatrist have issues with their feet.  With a podiatrist, they tend to want to cut a hole in the tendon and allow the spur to protrude through.  It relieves the pain for a while, but that spur keeps growing.  You will have trouble again.  With my bone specialist, he planed off the heels and reattached my tendons.  I have been pain free for over a decade and no sign of slowing down.

I do have, however, a lot of pain nowadays from my ankle that I broke nearly 4 years ago.  I don't know if I have torn something or if arthritis is setting in.  I have an appointment with my regular doctor on March 1 to see what I need to do.

I agree. However, in her defense, he is also a sports therapy specialist and a runner. He likely knows a thing or two about PF (I can't spell it!  ) and other foot related issues. I don't go to him because I don't think he's a very good chiro! LOL!

I no longer go to the doctor except for annual exams. I just spent (and am still spending, since it's not all paid) something in the neighborhood of $3000 for two CT scans, two breathing tests, and several blood draws looking for the cause of a nagging cough that has lasted for at about five years, and heard nothing but "inconclusive results" and "everything looks fine." I found some inserts that work better than custom orthotics. Called Powerstep Maxx. They are $35 and do wonders. My heal stopped hurting the first day I used them. Podiatrist did nothing. Customs were $400/and made my feet hurt worse. Switched the the $35 ones and they work awesome. Only time my heel might start to hurt now is if I wear flip flops for a few days. I found those inserts at http://www.protherapysupplies.com and buy a them once a year.

I've got new bass strings in the mail, hopefully they get here soon… It's only recently hit me how dull my strings have become. I last changed them in the fall of 2014, so it's been well over a year. Decent value.
